February General Meeting!

NOTE: Due to the President's Day holiday, our February meeting will be held on Monday, February 8th!

Our February speaker will be Shirley Grindle who will be explaining how the Board of Supervisors here in Orange County set up a stacked-deck committee to re-write the TINCUP Ordinance. She will be giving the background of the members of this committee, who appointed them, and what the majority of these committee members are attempting to do.

Shirley will also explain what she is doing about their effort to create loopholes in the TINCUP Ordinance that would allow the Board of Supervisors and other candidates running for County office to evade the contribution limits.

Dr. Don McCanne Discusses the Prognosis of Healthcare Legislation

We were fortunate to have Dr. Don McCanne, a highly acknowledged expert on healthcare, as our speaker recently.

Dr. McCanne is well known in South Orange County having practiced as a family physician for over thirty years in San Clemente. He has served as chief of staff of his community hospital and as board president of his community bank. Now retired, he devotes his energy and leadership to health care reform activism, speaking and writing extensively on universal health care and on other policies for expanding health care coverage, access and affordability.

Dr. McCanne is currently the Senior Health Policy Fellow for the Physicians for a National Health Program. In this capacity he writes a daily health policy update which appears on the PNHP website.
